TOP 10 BEST IN CLASS FOR BOARD DIVERSITY

CHICAGO, IL– Diversity MBA Magazine, a national leadership publication targeting managers, executives in leadership; professionals, students, and the business community; publishes its seventh annual list of “50 Out Front for Diversity Leadership: Best Places to Work for Women & Diverse Managers Ranking – Best in Class Companies for BOARD DIVERSITY.

Diversity MBA Magazine additionally recognizes Best in Class companies that have demonstrated outstanding systems, impact and results in their benchmarking categories of recruitment, representation, board diversity, succession planning, workplace inclusion & retention, and accountability. This release recognizes the Top Ten Companies that have leading practices in the category of BOARD DIVERSITY.

Diversity MBA Magazine is pleased to name the “TOP TEN BEST IN CLASS COMPANIES FOR BOARD DIVERSITY” (in alpha order) include: Accenture, A.T. Kearney, Citi, Colgate-Palmolive, DIAGEO, DePaul University, McDonalds, Staples, US Navy & Verizon Communications.

Companies that are committed to diversity in leadership roles reflect this in their board of directors. According to Diversity MBA, top companies include their board of directors in setting their diversity & inclusion strategy and boards may also approve their diversity strategy. The Top Ten Best in Class companies for Board Diversity has at least 45% of their board comprised of women and people of color. They are doing what is necessary to ensure diversity is integrated at all leadership levels.

Some interesting Findings about Boardroom Diversity from Diversity MBAs Research:

  • Top 10 Best in Class companies have an average of 48% women and people of color on their board of directors
  • Women comprise 18% of board members of 50 Out Front Companies
  • Women of color comprise 3.6% of board members of 50 Out Front Companies
  • People of color comprise 16.7% of board members of 50 Out Front Companies
  • 74% of 50 Out Front Companies have intentional strategies to diversify their boards

Overall, in the marketplace board diversity is creeping at a modest pace. There is so much opportunity for diversity at the board leadership levels.
