Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey Ranked 3rd Among Best Places for Diverse Managers to Work

(June x, 2011, Newark, NJ)   –  Hard work pays off, and when that hard work results in a higher ranking from Diversity MBA Magazine, it means that Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey is becoming an even better workplace for managers with diverse backgrounds.  In its just-released 2011 list of the 50 companies rated as the “Best Places for Diverse Managers to Work” in the United States, Horizon was ranked 3rd,  jumping eight notches from its 2010 ranking of 11th.

Officially referred to as the “50 Out Front for Diversity Leadership: Best Places for Diverse Managers To Work,” the listing compiled by Diversity MBA Magazine is a national ranking of companies that excel in implementing intentional strategies based on accountability, succession planning, representation, retention, and recruitment systems that allow and encourage managers and women of diverse backgrounds to excel and develop into leadership roles.  For the second year in a row, Horizon BCBSNJ was recognized as a Top 10 Best in Class for Representation, as well as for Retention & Inclusion.  This year also marks the first time that Diversity MBA Magazine ranked Horizon BCBSNJ among the top ten companies in the area of Succession Planning.

The Horizon BCBSNJ ranking follows only Kaiser Permanente (#1); and Accenture (#2).  Rounding out the top five are Bank of America and McDonalds, respectively.

This list, the first-ever ranking of its kind from DiversityInc, was derived from the same criteria used for the DiversityInc Top 50 Companies and 25 Noteworthy Companies, but adjusts for companies that do not operate nationally.
