A SALUTE TO PRIDE
This poem is more than a shout out
for the group who cannot safely come out.
I want to express my solidarity with your
familiarity of not being seen,
but lies in between the
excluded pretending to be included.
Intersectionality is not a joke, be woke
and do not provoke me for being
gay, black, female, or male, with nappy or
curly hair, and wide nostrils full of despair.
Trans what you say? Winging it, slaying it while playing it,
until you are heard, and someone saves your day.
It ain’t your fault, America won’t let you be,
whom you need to be in this land of FREE?
JUST don’t slay me for my true sexuality.
We too marched in civil rights for our liberties.
We hung on to the end of the dangling ropes fighting
for our freedom as we immortalized Dr. Kings dream.
Today, we march in UNITY with PRIDE including
all of us that represent LGBTQ Plus, HE, SHE, & THEY.
What is the call to action? No judgement just acceptance.
