Mixtroz Earns Official Recognition as Women-Owned Business

WBENC  and WOSB certifications as a women-owned business open door for new business opportunities for mother-daughter tech startup

Birmingham, Ala. – May 9, 2018 – Mixtroz, a tech startup focused on facilitating face-to-face connection at events and data collection, has earned the coveted WBENC and WOSB certifications as a women-owned business. WBENC and WOSB certifications validate that the business is 51 percent owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a woman or women. Mixtroz mother-daughter co-founders Kerry Schrader, CEO, and Ashlee Ammons, President, pursued the certifications to add another strategic layer to the business development efforts of their rapidly growing company.

“Being officially recognized as a women-owned business is extremely exciting and important for us as a diverse startup led by an African-American mother-daughter team,” says Schrader, the mother of the duo. “It will give us access to business opportunities where ‘matchmaking’ is a priority, specifically in the government sector as a sole-source provider.”

WBENC is the largest third-party certifier of businesses owned, controlled, and operated by women in the United States. WBENC partners with 14 Regional Partner Organizations (RPOs) to provide its world-class standard of certification to women-owned businesses throughout the country. WBENC is also the nation’s leading advocate of women-owned businesses and entrepreneurs. Throughout the year, WBENC provides business development opportunities for member corporations, government agencies and more than 15,000 certified women-owned businesses at events and other forums.

The Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Program is a program that authorizes contracting officers to specifically limiting, or setting aside, certain requirements for competition solely amongst women-owned small businesses (WOSBs) or economically disadvantaged women-owned small businesses (EDWOSBs).
