Distinguished Military Service Awards
Washington, D.C. – August, 27, 2018- LATINA Style Inc., in partnership with Parents Step Ahead (PSA), will host the 15th Annual National LATINA Symposium – a national platform for Latina professionals addressing the most pressing issues affecting the Hispanic woman in the United States and the Armed Forces on September 5 & 6, 2018, in Arlington, Virginia. The conference brings together the most influential and accomplished Hispanic women in our country. Celebrating the accomplishments and success of Hispanic women serving in the Armed Forces, this year LATINA Style Inc., celebrates 24 years of serving the Hispanic professional working woman, college students, entrepreneurs, Latinas in the military and veterans
The National LATINA Symposium opens with a VIP Leadership Reception on the evening of Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 at Jaleo Restaurant in Crystal City from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. The reception is followed by a ceremonial breakfast from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Morning speakers are: Mr. James Schenck, Chief Executive Officer, Pentagon Federal Credit Union; The Honorable Julieta Valls Noyes, Former Ambassador to Croatia; Ms. Maja Lehnus, Associate Director for Talent, Central Intelligence Agency and The Honorable Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Republican Congresswoman from Florida’s 27th District.
The Symposium continues with a series of workshops that allow participants to learn about issues such as: advancement in the workplace, successful leadership, mentorship, applying military skills, professional development and cybersecurity.
LATINA Style is proud to present the only national awards program honoring Latina military and Department of Defense civilian personnel who through their service have enhanced the role of Latinas in their organizations. Co-hosted with the Department of Defense, the highlight of the event is theDistinguished Military Service Awards Dinner on Thursday, September 6 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The dinner will also be the stage for the presentation of the President’s Award, the Trailblazer Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award. The awardees will be honored for their service to our country, leadership, accomplishments, and commitment to building a strong community. The Symposium is an integral part of Hispanic Heritage month activities being held in our Nation’s capital.
The Distinguished Military Service Awards Dinner will be held at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel. Speakers include: Mr. Clarence “CJ” Johnson, Department of Defense, Director of Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity; The Honorable Grace Napolitano, Democratic Congresswoman from California, 32nd District and Keynote Speaker Lieutenant General Jay Silveria, USAF, Superintendent U.S. Air Force Academy.
