The Best Cities for Veterans to Live were determined from an analysis of how well the 100 most populated U.S. cities provide opportunities for Veterans and their families to transition back into civilian life. The study examined 20 factors grouped into four categories: Economic Wellness, Employment, Availability of VA Benefits and Quality of Life for Veterans.
Factors included veteran-specific topics as well as variables related to general quality of life.
Some of the metrics included: percentage of veteran income spent on monthly housing costs, proximity to VA benefits, the quality of VA hospitals, affordability and cost of living.
San Antonio claimed the top spot as the best city for Veterans to live. In fact, the Midwest dominated the top 50.
