R&B and Gospel Recording Artist Jarvis J. Mays to Perform at the Black Women Handling Business Awards Show in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla., April 10, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — R&B and Gospel Recording Artist Jarvis J. Mays will be the featured performer during the Black Women Handling Business (BWHB) Awards show on April 27.  The annual program celebrates women of color for their acts of service, leadership, and strength while making an impact and building legacies. The ceremonies will take place at the Woman’s Club of Sanford, 309 S. Oak Avenue, in Sanford, Fla.

“Having an amazing mother and beautiful smart daughters, I feel it’s my duty to perform and give back to this empowering event for women,” said Mays.

Trailblazing his way through the recording industry with a series of stellar songs, Jarvis J. Mays continues to build his brand in the music industry through his unique style and undeniable talent. The father, singer/songwriter, business mogul, and reality show star hails from the lush and citrus-scented city of Avon Park, Fla.

Recognized at a very young age of possessing the ability to hold a note by his musical family, Mays hit the music scene carving out his own blueprint in the music industry. Although his musical influences are many, he points to poignant artists like Earth, Wind, & Fire, Jonathan Butler, Babyface, and his twin brother Javis.

“I’ve been singing alongside my twin brother who is a gospel artist since we were kids,” Mays said. “However, I realized that I had a gift to sing to the world around the age of 17.  I started recording my own music about three years ago.”

Mays released his first single, “Beautiful Love,” in 2015. It caught the ears of influential people in the music industry and launched him into the arena of emerging indie artists.  His second highly-anticipated single, “Can I get a Witness,” was released in 2016 and earned him a sizeable following. Mays released his third single, “Attitude,” from his greatly anticipated EP scheduled to be released in Summer 2019.

While his music continues to push all boundaries and limits, Mays landed roles on two new reality shows: “TheAmaySingTwins” and “Industry Guys.”

“I have learned that I am responsible for myself as an artist,” Jarvis added. “This industry is cut throat, so I need to be aware of my audiences and the people whom I choose to do business.  I have also learned that I need to write and own my material as much as possible.”

Mays has found additional success in his professional life. As a Senior Project Manager, he brings more than ten years of experience in managing the successful delivery of software implementation projects. Mays has extensive knowledge of client management, change management, requirements gathering and data analysis, resource assignments, process improvements, and team leadership.

Mays earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Florida A&M University.

“In the next five years, I would love to be touring the world full-time and sharing my music with everyone who will listen,” he said. “Hopefully my music can inspire people to find love, end bad relationships, fall in love with themselves, and overall just feel good.”
