CHICAGO, July 24, 2013 — The Chicago Chapter, National Black MBA Association, Inc. announce the return of its Business Leadership Institute (BLI) Friday August 2, 2013 from 9AM-8:30PM at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Conference Center, Chicago IL. It has been four years since the Organization has held a similar event here in the City of Chicago. With the uptick of employment opportunities in the area, this is the perfect time to resume the one day power packed information gathering event, says Chicago Chapter President Angela Foster-Woods.
The theme “E-merge-and-See”: Time to Rethink Your Position, Rethink Your Capabilities, See the Possibilities,” Time to Retool Your Brand, offers attendees information for competing in the post-recession environment. Whether you are an individual an entrepreneur or a corporation, competition for that next opportunity or that next customer is greater than ever before. Over the past few years, both individuals and companies alike have learned to do more with less.
This one day conference will offer attendees industry best practices to prepare, distinguish and position themselves for advancement in a global market place. The keynote luncheon features ”The Shark”: Daymond John founder of FUBU, Star of ABCs hit show Shark Tank and author of The Brand Within and Display of Power. In addition, five tracks are offered, Advancing Your Career, Leadership, Entrepreneurship (Start-up and Growth) and a Corporate track with emphasis on Recruitment and Retention plus Diversity and Inclusion Strategy. Some featured presentations include: Securing Your Next Opportunity with Dwain Celistan; Ignite the B.I.G. with Chareen Goodman, Starting Your Business from Scratch with Amy Hilliard of Comfort Cake, Developing a Growth Mindset with Dr. C Adam Callary, Generational Diversity: Age is More than Just a Number with Sakira Jackson, COO of Diversity MBA and Inclusive Diversity: Driving Sustainability with Pam McElvane CEO of Diversity MBA, The afternoon plenary “Taking Your Brand Global” is presented by global career expert Stacie Bernan, author of Getting Ahead by Going Abroad and new release Go Global.
An afternoon Diversity Career Fair will run from 1PM to 5PM and is open to the general public for free. Companies participating represent Big Box Retail, Consumer Packaged Goods and Financial Services industries. They seek candidates for Finance, IT, HR, Marketing and General Management positions. Participants to date include Walgreens, Kraft, Miller Coors, Sears Holding, BNY Mellon, Central Intelligence Agency, Citi-Bank and more. The career fair floor also features MBA Row. Area MBA program representatives will be on site to discuss the various opportunities at their institutions. Some attendees may have an opportunity at full-tuition paid scholarships.
