Spearman focuses her practice on representing plaintiffs injured due to medical negligence. As a malpractice lawyer, she has litigated and won multi-million dollar awards for her clients. Her success is due to her in-depth understanding of medical jargon and hospital procedures and her ability to quickly and successfully navigate through the complex health care system. In 2006, Spearman served on the board of directors of the Chicago post office employees credit union. She served on the board for five years, with three of those years in the capacity of board treasurer. Prior to embarking upon a legal career, Spearman practiced for seven years as a registered nurse specializing in the area of obstetrics, including high-risk OB, labor and delivery, postpartum, newborn nursery, and neonatal intensive care. As a nurse, she also spent four years practicing and living on the Navajo reservation in Arizona.
