Diversity mission: Dell believes that in order to be a successful company and a great place to work, our business must be able to leverage the similarities and differences of all team members. To achieve that, our CEO, Michael Dell, and Dell’s Global Diversity Council drive diversity initiatives throughout our company.
In 2011, Dell reached new heights in two core areas of its diversity initiative — growing a diverse network of suppliers, and cultivating a diverse workforce. Through supplier coaching and mentorship programs Dell grew its supplier network, investing more than a $1 billion with minority and women-owned suppliers, and approximately $3 billion in total in diverse businesses. Dell also found new ways to strengthen existing relationships that contribute to the diversity of its workforce. As part of its partnership with the United Negro College Fund — the Thurmond B. Woodard Dell UNCF Corporate Scholars Program — Dell sent five executive leaders into the classrooms of Tennessee State University to deliver lectures and engage in discussions on current industry issues. In 2011 Dell received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equity Index for the seventh consecutive year. Dell encourages employees to be open about their culture, gender and sexuality, believing that an inclusive workplace leads to greater creativity and innovation.
