Mr. Michael Jackson is the Construction Technology Subject Matter Expert (SME) at the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC), Joint Base San AntonioLackland, Texas. As part of the Standards and Evaluation Branch of AFCEC, the Construction Technology SME is responsible for the management of the Air Force Design Awards Program, Air Force Standard Design Program, and serves as the Air Force member on two Tri-Service Discipline Working Groups (DWG); Aviation DWG and Specifications DWG.
Mr. Jackson entered federal civilian service in Mar 1999 working for the US Army Corps of Engineers, serving as a Student Career Experience Program student, Mississippi Valley District, New Orleans, La. From June 2001 to July 2004, he gained private industry experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer working at a nuclear plant in Clinton, Ill. He returned to federal service in July 2004 as a Project Engineer for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Southeast Louisiana Veterans Healthcare System (SLVHCS), New Orleans, La. He served in a diverse range of leadership and staff positions from Chief of Projects at SLVHCS to Resident Engineer for the VA Office of Construction & Facilities Management. He began working for the Air Force in Mar 2016, serving as a Mechanical Engineer in the Facilities Branch, Asset Visibility Division, Operations Directorate, AFCEC, Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla where he was instrumental in the requirement development, award, and surveillance of the enterprisewide Facility Condition Assessment contract. Prior to his current position, he was the Military Construction (MILCON) Program Manager at HQ Air Education and Training Command (AETC), Joint Base San Antonio – Randolph AFB, Texas, providing MILCON and Unspecified Minor Military Construction (UMMC) advocacy, oversight and support for 12 installations across AETC.
