Lina Varela-Gonzalez

Lina promotes the profession of nursing daily in her role as a director of a 90,000-visit emergency department. She is also responsible for the inpatient behavioral health departments at Presbyterian Medical Center.
Lina recently represented nursing and women in health care at the White House in a meeting with the President and the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This was the administration’s first woman in healthcare panel discussion about what’s going on with healthcare in our communities. After the meeting, Lina gave an update in Spanish to a national Spanish radio station. She has participated in local Spanish radio talk shows to share healthcare information.
She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Seton Hall University and a Master of Business Administration from Ashford University. Her leadership has led to Chest Pain Center, Trauma, Comprehensive Stroke Accreditation, Lina is an inspirational and passionate leader with strong advocacy for diversity.
