Diversity Mission: Diversity has been at the core of Walmart’s culture since Sam Walton opened our doors in 1962. It’s part of what makes Walmart, Walmart. We can only help our associates, customers and partners live better if we really know them, and that means understanding and respecting differences and being inclusive of all people. Walmart drives diversity efforts through programs for employees, suppliers and communities in which we operate.
To integrate diversity and inclusion into the company’s business DNA, this year Walmart has challenged senior leaders to develop customized diversity and inclusions plans that are linked to their respective business strategies. Plan progress will be evaluated twice a year. This is an addition to Walmart’s existing Diversity Goals Program, which has more than 60,000 participating associates. The program holds Walmart’s management team accountable for elevating the standards for diversity and inclusion throughout the company. The program can affect up to 15 percent of officer and senior field manager bonuses, based on their diversity goal achievements. Those achievements also account for 10 percent of annual performance evaluations for all management associates who have diversity goals.
