Diversity mission: At Yale, inclusion means creating a work environment where each person has the opportunity to participate fully to achieve the mission of the University and is valued for their distinctive skills and capabilities.

Yale operates its diversity programs via its Office of Diversity and Inclusion. A visible byproduct of its ventures is an employee population with a distinctly international flair. As with most top-tier U.S. colleges and universities, the recruitment of qualified, diverse faculty members remains a goal. The school hired 56 new minority and 30 new women faculty since concentrated hiring efforts began in 2006. now describes its faculty as “a richly diverse group who are the best in their fields”, including a “laddered” teaching staff of 29.3% and 17.6% for female and minority faculty, respectively. he Yale Women Faculty Forum initiated a mentoring program at the beginning of 2012 for junior female faculty. Experienced faculty women are matched one-to-one with counterparts in their fields. The initiative has been embraced enthusiastically – 75 faculty women are participating in the inaugural round of mentoring. Yale supports an array of employee affinity groups as well. Included are those for African-American, Asian, LGBT and Latino staffers.
