Rosalind Brewer, CEO of Walgreens
Odyssey Media would like to congratulate Odyssey woman Roz Brewer on becoming the first and only black woman to head a Fortune 500 company.
On March 15, Roz will become the CEO of Walgreens, taking over for Stefano Pessina, who has led the company since 2014.
Roz will be taking the helm at Walgreens after a three-year tenure at Starbucks as the company’s COO. During this time, she helped increase diversity in the company’s leadership, and “bolster its to-go operations as the coronavirus pandemic hit.”
While her new position is making waves, it will not be the first time that Roz has served as a trailblazer for those following in her footsteps. “Before her stint at Starbucks, Brewer was the first woman and first African-American to lead a Walmart division as president and CEO of the Sam’s Club wholesale chain.”
We at Odyssey would like to commend Roz for her commitment to excellence and look forward to the great things that will surely come to Walgreens as a result of her leadership.
