Rev. Dr. Theodore T. Turman
Chaplain Turman, or Theo to his colleagues and friends, is a native of Detroit MI. He completed his undergraduate studies at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee Alabama, his Master of Divinity degree at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University, and his Doctor of Ministry degree from Boston University School of Theology. He is an ordained reverend in the ABC-USA and PNBC denominations.
Theo comes having served for the last six years as the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Detroit. His chaplaincy experience includes serving at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, where he also completed his Chaplaincy Internship and Residency, Hospice Atlanta, and DeKalb Medical Center.
Theo is married to Akilah and they are the proud parents of Gavin Christopher Turman, a fourth grader. Theo will serve as the manager of spiritual health here at WellStar West Georgia. His primary responsibilities will include growing the department to include WellStar chaplains, students, and local clergy, staff support, and patient care.
