MIAMI – MAY 14, 2019 – Noticias Telemundo announced the addition to its team of Karla Amezola and Guadalupe Venegas as its Miami and California correspondents, respectively. Before joining Noticias Telemundo, Amezola served as a Noticias Telemundo collaborator in Los Angeles, while Venegas was a news anchor at Telemundo 20 in the San Diego and Tijuana area. Both will report to Elizabeth Valdés, Noticias Telemundo’s Senior Director. The double hire follows the network’s recent announcement of the strengthening of its Noticias Telemundo operations in Washington, D.C.

“Noticias Telemundo is continuing its expansion with the incorporation of two journalists who have demonstrated their commitment to our audience,” Valdés commented. “Karla and Guadalupe arrive at a critical time for Latinos in the United States and reinforce our team in light of the approaching presidential elections.”

Karla Amezola was a Noticias Telemundo collaborator in Los Angeles before accepting the role of national correspondent based in Miami. From 2011 to 2017, she served as reporter and anchor for Noticias 62, Estrella TV’s primetime newscast for the Los Angeles area. She has also worked with Univisión and California Uniradio, and as a columnist for Excélsior Los Angeles, Daily News, La Prensa and OC Register. A graduate of the journalism and communication program at the University of California in San Diego, her hometown, Amezola has earned an Emmy and Golden Mike for her work.

Guadalupe Venegas joins Noticias Telemundo from the Telemundo affiliate in San Diego/Tijuana, where he anchored the “Noticiero Telemundo” newscast. Before that, he worked as a reporter for “Aquí y Ahora” on Univisión.  From 2009 to 2016, he reported for and anchored a number of programs for Telemundo, including “Al Rojo Vivo” and “Noticias Telemundo,” and collaborated with Telemundo Deportes, forming part of its coverage team at the 2012 London Olympics. He holds a degree in communications and Spanish arts and letters from San Diego State University.
