Hot Zone

Actor/experimental event producer, Lenny Platt (“How to Get Away With Murder”/”Quantico”/”One Life to Live”) stars opposite Topher Grace (SPIDERMAN) and Golden Globe/Emmy Award Winner Julianna Margulies (“ER”/”The Good Wife”) in the dramatic, high-stakes, scientific thriller “The Hot Zone,” premiering with a three-night event May 27th (9/8C) on NAT GEO. The smoldering Puerto Rican/Dominican actor shines in the 6-episode miniseries as ‘Sgt. Kyle Ormond,’ an Army Ranger transferred to the Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (“The Hot Zone”) to learn from the best of the best, retired Army Veteran Dr. Nancy Jaax (Julianna Margulies), as they take on the world’s deadliest killer.

We’d love to arrange an interview with you and Lenny Platt to discuss the upcoming Summer Blockbuster Event coming this Memorial Day Weekend.

Based on the riveting international best-seller by Richard Preston, “The Hot Zone” is inspired by the terrifying true story of the origins of the Ebola virus, a highly infectious, deadly virus from the central African rain forest and its first arrival on U.S. soil. In 1989, when this killer suddenly appears in primates in a scientific lab in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., there is no known cure, and a heroic U.S. Army veterinarian (Julianna Margulies) begins working with a secret military SWAT team, putting herself in mortal peril as she tries to head off the outbreak before it spreads to the human population.

Born in Philadelphia, Platt originally set his sights on a different path in life while attending the University of Florida majoring in criminology. He stumbled upon acting after joining a student film group on campus and almost instantly fell in love with writing and directing short films. While working behind the scenes of a production, one of the actors unexpectedly dropped out and Platt stepped up to the plate, quickly realizing he had a knack for work in front of the camera as well. Since then he has starred in some of TV’s most raved about shows including “Quantico,” “How To Get Away With Murder,” “Gotham,” “Blue Bloods,” “Law & Order: SVU” and “One Life To Live.”

Although he has been shining in front of the camera, Platt has never lost his love for creating behind the scenes. His production company, BBQ Films, is unlike any other in the industry. Creating immersive cinematic experiences in extraordinary locations, Platt and his team bring to life our favorite movies via interactive installations. Evolving from a casual rooftop cookout and film screening in Spanish Harlem, to pop-up cinema club, to the fully experiential production company you see today, one constant has remained: BBQ Films uses storytelling to create a community, bringing an element of surprise and excitement back to movie fans.
