Diversity MBA Statement on the Supreme Court’s Decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade

Today Anger, Tomorrow Action – GO VOTE!

The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade is not surprising but none the less still shocking, upsetting and disgusting. Today’s horrendous action is the culmination of years of right-wing efforts to strip away a women’s rights over her body. Make no mistake about it, today’s action places women’s health at risk and criminalizes medical professionals and others who offer support and assistance to a woman seeking an abortion in numerous states. A women’s right to make decisions for her body is in grave peril and we know this will have a disproportionate impact on women of color and underrepresented women who do not have the resources and means to travel to a state that provides legal and safe abortion procedures. Due to their circumstances, many women will seek primitive and sometimes life-threatening unsanctioned procedures in pursuit of relief from an unfortunate situation, rape, incest, sickness and more. When will women stop being treated like second class citizens? Obviously not today.

So, my question is what’s next of our hard-fought rights you want to take away – affirmative action, LGBTQ rights, same sex marriages, what?

The Call To Action

Today’s Supreme Court’s action is a wake-up call for everyone 18 years old and older to go vote for elected officials and judges who will enact the will of the people and protect the sanctity of our rights as responsible and sound thinking human beings. We are in election season for primary elections and in November for the general election. Don’t let this crucial time in history pass you by. Register to vote today. Encourage your family, friends, co-workers, and church members to register to vote. Then, go vote like your life depends on it because it does.
