Diversity mission: At Cox Communications, the subjects of diversity and inclusion are not just corporate monikers or taglines; they’re highly critical parts of our day-to-day culture, values and operations.

Cox Communications represents the third largest cable provider in the United States, also offering high-speed internet and telephone service nationwide. Cox builds it diversity programs around what it calls the “Four Pillars”: People, Communities, Products & Services, and Suppliers. The company orchestrates its projects through a diversity council system. Led by President Pat Esser, the council includes a number of Cox senior managers. Along with a network of local councils, the group maintains a sharp focus on employee development. Supported diversity activities include a national minority supplier development council. This Council, which includes local branches, oversees Cox spending targets with these underrepresented suppliers, seeking to increase their supply targets each year. Leadership training, executive training and formal mentoring programs round out the company’s diversity action items list — 35% of Cox management is women; 37.5% of all employees are people of color. A notable set of diversity partnerships include those with the National Urban League and the Human Rights Campaign.
