Marjika Grey, System VP CommonSpirit Health

Dr. Marijka Grey is an avid pursuer of the quadruple aim in healthcare: better care, better outcomes, lower cost and a purposeful, joyful workplace. As CommonSpirit Health’s System VP for Ambulatory Transformation and Innovation, Dr. Grey and her team work on incorporating cutting edge technology into the care workflow, advancing the environment of care and refining both clinical and administrative workflows to make the day-to-day care of patients better for everyone involved. With a background in systems transformation, informatics, healthcare quality and medical group leadership, Dr. Grey notes that a common thread needed to
fundamentally change care within the healthcare system is the involvement of physician and advanced practice provider leaders to help design those changes.

A University of Maryland Medical School graduate, she trained in Internal Medicine at WellSpan Health York Hospital and spent several years practicing within that medical group in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. In addition to her clinical practice she had various leadership roles: initially with ambulatory informatics, followed by quality and innovation and subsequently regional medical group leadership of approximately 850 physicians and APPs, with over 200 associated sites and 3 hospitals. After achieving her MBA from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD in 2018, she joined Catholic Health Initiatives as the president of CHI Memorial Medical Group in Chattanooga, TN and transitioned with the forming of CommonSpirit Health in 2019 to her current role.

During the COVID-19 pandemic her team shifted to support the care and subsequent vaccine efforts by enabling AI-based COVID-screening of patients for in-person care, leading the rollout of a single virtual care platform across 22 states in 21 days, resulting in 1.7 million virtual visits to date, leveraged web-based and AI platforms to facilitate vaccine distribution and utilized a hybrid high/low tech solution with AI and field healthcare workers to address vaccine hesitancy in vulnerable populations.

When not working, she can invariably be found dancing to a rhythm that may or may not be audible, enjoying almost anything sci-fi related and spending time with her amazing husband and daughters.
