Laura Hanson is an AVP & Actuary at Pacific Life Insurance Company. In this role she is responsible for heading actuarial policy affairs. Hanson is a known advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the life insurance industry. She formed and co-chairs a DEI committee within the American Academy of Actuaries, leads the actuarial DEI program at Pacific Life Insurance Company, mentors aspiring actuaries, and partners with the International Association of Black Actuaries, Organization of Latino Actuaries, and Network of Actuarial Women and Allies to improve DEI within the actuarial profession. Hanson has held several leadership roles at the American Academy of Actuaries and currently serves on the Actuarial Standards Board. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
