At Ohio Health they place diversity at the core of their everyday functions. The backbone of their diversity commitments are Ohio Health’s diversity councils and business resource groups (BRGs). These initiatives help to further the organization’s interests in diversity and inclusion by creating room for conversation on how they can continue to improve and advance diversity and inclusion standards and programming. Ohio Health boasts eight total diversity councils including the Grant Medical Center Diversity and Inclusion Council (est. 2012), the OhioHealth Physician Group (OPG) Diversity and Inclusion Council (est. 2015), and the Doctors Diversity Council (est. 2018). They have five business resource groups including the PRIDE BRG (LGBTQ), the WE L.E.A.D. BRG (Women Associates), and the WE D.R.E.A.M. BRG (African American Associates). Ohio Health also established a Physician Diversity Scholars Program in recognition of the need for medical staff that mirrors the diversity of the communities they serve. This program encourages and promotes the training and acquisition of valuable minority physicians who contribute to the growth and success of OhioHealth.
